Abiding Word has been a part of the Highlands Ranch community since 1982. We love the only true God and desire to worship him "in spirit and truth". We love God's Word and the comfort it offers. We love people and want to help them know God and his salvation in his Son, Jesus Christ. We love families and seek to help parents in their important role. Singles and married couples, old and young, men and women all will find a warm welcome here.

Services are held at 8 & 10:00 am on Sundays and at 7pm on Thursday evenings during the summer. Come join us!

Our Pastor

We have one called pastor at our church. His name is Kurt Ebert, and he has served here since 1997. He and his wife, Connie, have been blessed with four children, now in their teens and twenties. He received his degree in 1985 from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI, the only pastoral seminary of the WELS. He has served previously at congregations in Nebraska and Wisconsin.

Our Philosophy of Worship

We believe that the heart of worship is God inviting sinners to come and meet with him—both to receive his mercy, and to respond gratefully. Our worship tries to reflect this heavenly meeting by being:
  • Christ-centered, since we meet God only through Him
  • Evangelical (proclaiming Good News)
  • Joyfully dignified and reverent
  • Focused on God’s Word and Sacraments, the means of communicating His love
  • Participatory and predictable through the liturgy
  • Connected with past and present forms of Christian worship

Abiding Word is associated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), an American church body of 400,000 members and 1,200 congregations, supporting mission work in over twenty countries worldwide. It is committed to upholding the three historic tenets of the Lutheran reformation: Salvation is by God’s grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ alone, as proclaimed in the Bible alone.
